Can TikTok Ads improve Amazon Sales?
We finally did it and combed through all our research, campaigns and case studies....
8 months of data...
So lets get started....
Manipulate Brand Analytics 😮
So before I get in to the details, allow me a few seconds to send a message to everyone that didn't believe me...
We spent thousands on TikTok ads.....
Sending traffic directly to the Amazon listings/storefront.
And it goes like this:
- We setup a TikTok Ads campaign with Amazon Attribution links....so we can track the sales.
- We run the ads for 10 days... normally $50 per day
- Stop and assess the results
TERRIBLE!!! EVERY.SINGLE.TIME 🤬
We see fewer than 2% in sales from the traffic (hundreds of clicks.... maybe a sale or two reported on Amazon Attribution).
🔥🔥 The brand also experiences an organic sales spike during this period (in some cases their best ever 10-day period which led to their best Prime Day ever.... with no discounts).
🔥🔥 Generally, we see an improvement to the BSR and sales increase by 30%-40%
So the ads work!!!! 👊
But it was not enough....
Across all the brands we checked the ASIN traffic (page views, sessions, etc) compared to the same time last year.
We saw a 30% - 40% rise in traffic (you can see from the snapshot below)
Which leads us to believe....
Over 80% of traffic on TikTok will find the product on Amazon and NOT click the ad (Gen Z hate ads)
But how do we track this....
We look at Brand Analytics
If we are running ads for a Garlic Press (hate that example 🤬 ) made by the brand ChefPro, then we should see an increase in Brand Analytics data for that period.
If we run TikTok ads for the ChefPro Garlic Press... we should see a rise in people searching for that brand on Amazon.
Here are the results:

That's right.... Branded Search grew by up to 45% when TikTok Ads were running.
That means.... our campaigns got TikTok users to go to Amazon and try to find the product
So then I asked my guy, Jerald about this (quick side note on Jerald..... he is my "data guy" and has been with me for years and was integral in running Rankster when it was a rebate service..... he has documented and reported on over 500 launches and over 200 TikTok campaigns).
I said, "Yo Jerald, is this a one off? Are we able to manipulate Brand Analytics data? Can you check this across all the TikTok campaigns"

Show this to your PPC team...
If it excites them, give them a raise, as now they can target the incoming traffic (you are actually making their job but they don't want you to know that🤫).
If they don't understand it.... fire them.....
After all... PPC Experts are pretty common, but the few that understand the impact of this strategy are rare....
Don't waste time on PPC experts unless they know what to do with traffic like this.
